but none so old as the pyramids of Egypt. The pyramids were built thousands of
years ago. Some of these huge buildings can be seen at Gizch, near Cairo. The
pyramids at Gizeh are nine in number. Of these the great pyramid is the oldest.
It is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It is the burial place of
the king Cheops. He ruled in Egypt over four thousand years ago. Many of the
kings of Egypt built pyramids which served as tombs, The bodies of the dead
kings had been preserved by putting some wonderful spices on them. Those
preserved bodies are called mummies.
